Reference data

The workspace's code lists, such as countries, currencies or order statuses, with versions that never change once created and mappings from other systems' codes. “Reference list” rules validate columns against them, and coherence shows where datasets disagree.

What you can do

  • Create a New list with a name and a key, from an ISO list (alpha-2 or alpha-3 countries, currencies), written by hand with one CODE;Label line per code, or imported from a column. Rules use the key, and it never changes.
  • Import the codes from a dataset column, with an optional label column. BeryX reads up to 20,000 rows of the column at the source, read-only (a sample, if the table is larger), and saves the distinct codes as a new version; each code gets its most frequent label. When the rows read are a sample, the import message warns that a code missing from them was left out of the list.
  • Create a New version from the codes of the version in use, or of an older version opened in the selector, and see before saving how many codes come in, go out or change label. The Version history shows the same for every version.
  • Edit the Mappings, one SYSTEM;code in the system;list code line each. A rule with a system translates the column's values through them before looking them up in the list.
  • See Coherence across systems, from the last scan of every rule that uses the list: values outside the list and in how many datasets they appear, the same code with different labels or mappings, and rules evaluated against an old version.
  • Use a list in a rule: in Rules, with the “Reference list” type, pick the registry list, pin a version or not, and set the system and the label column, if there are any.
