English

Connect Excel / Power BI

Connect Power Query, in Excel or Power BI, to stable tables of the workspace's scores, issues, SLO, costs and activity, with a read-only token. Use it to run your own analyses without asking the data team for anything.

What you can do

  • Create a read-only token with Create a token for BI (only workspace admins can create tokens), so you can revoke it without affecting anyone else, or use an existing token from Team.
  • Copy the BaseUrl and DataVaultToken parameters into Power Query and follow the first-connection steps: Anonymous access and, in the Power BI service, "Skip test connection".
  • Paste the DataVaultFeed function into the Advanced Editor; it handles pagination, the token and the column types.
  • Pick a feed (scores, issues, slo, finops, activity or datasets) and copy its query, with the list of columns and types.
  • Check the Stable contract: versioned columns that are only ever appended at the end, a row limit per page, 300 requests per minute per token and the option to get the data as CSV.
